The Carnivale of Poker returns to the WSOP
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Executive Director, Ty Stewart, and Tournament Director, Jack Effel, addressed members of the media in their annual WSOP conference call, and there was some interesting poker news.
After a decade in the shadows, the Carnivale of Poker will return to WSOP 2013 giving the men and women on limited bankrolls the chance to join in the fun. With buy-ins ranging from as low as $365, and a $1,675 Main Event, players with limited bankrolls will be able to enjoy the experience of this Summers WSOP like none other.
The resuscitated tournament will comprise of 21-events and will play out on Mondays and Tuesdays starting at 11:00 PST throughout the summer. These days have been chosen as there are no WSOP events at 17:00 on those days.
The team also announced that once the WSOP Main Event is underway, more Carnivale of Poker events will be constructed to give players who bust out the chance to keep on playing.
In addition to a $1,675 Main Event, there will also be a $5,000 Open-Face Chinese event. The WSOP are using the Carnivale of Poker as a test bed, and if successful, you could see an Open-Face Chinese WSOP bracelet event in 2014.
The winners of each event will receive a specially crafted gold and diamond medallion, and an additional $100,000 will be split amongst the top 10-point earners courtesy of the WSOP.
